About the Song:
“Do You Think?”

In 2003, my family and I suffered the loss of my beloved
mother, Sandy Rader.  At the age of 53, she passed away
after a 3 1/2  year  battle with Melanoma Cancer.
On her last day, the children and I spent most of it with
her. I painted her nails, we talked to her, though she
was unresponsive, we prayed with her and I made sure she
knew each one of us loved her very much.
Dad came home from running errands and the kids and I
left for a short while. He sat down with her and talked
to her about her life.  He told her if she was in pain
and needed to go, that it would be okay.  With that being
said she took two long breaths and went to Heaven to be
with her Lord.  Shortly after, dad called and let us know
that mom had passed away.
We went to the house where she was and we all sat around
her.  We reminisced about the times she, dad, and
granddaughter Holly, would act out the fairy tale
Cinderella.  I told the kids that maybe it was like
Cinderella when she died and the angels swooped down and
carried her off or a chariot took her up to Heaven.
Maybe, they rolled out the red carpet for her.  Holly, 6
years old at the time, questioned, “Why the red carpet?”
I answered , “That’s  how they treat movie stars and real
important people.  That’s what they do when they honor
someone .”

Later, a man came to take mom away. As he prepared to
take her from the house he took out a red velvet cover,
made to fit over a body, and covered her with it.  My
daughter, Holly, was watching and said to me, “Look mom,
the red carpet!”  I just melted.  At that moment, I knew
that the Lord was honoring my mother in Heaven.  And he
wanted us to see it through the eyes of a child and hear
it out of the mouth of a babe.
Two months later, I wrote the song, “Do You Think?”  I
recorded it and now await the day when I can share her
message with the world.

In Loving Memory of Sandy S. Rader,
